What do you call this?

Hi all,

I am on a campaign to limit my communications to that which is most economical of my time.

Why?

Because I am flat out like a lizard drinking…

To celebrate, I though I might pass along something that made laugh…

I have bought a few things from Amazon.com. As such, I have an account with them, and occasionally get ‘amazing’ deals, depending largely on what I have been looking at recently.

Tonight, after returning home from a last minute dash to the post office to send off, amongst many things, a ceramic sharpening stone, I got one that says…

“Amazon.com: #1000 Grit Ceramic (Orange) Professional Series Water Stone – Shapton”

So, as someone in my relatively unique position must, I click the link.

Why? Why would I do that? What was the point? Am I really going to jump at an amazing deal on a Shapton #1000 grit (orange even!) professional waterstone?

Yes, I laughed. Out loud. A LOT.

I’m trying to work out where the great deal was…

Was it from the great shipping rates (don’t forget, I just mailed one.)?

Was it the great price?

Was it the fact that the thing was made just over there (points North East), but I can get it from the U.S.?

Was it using Yen to buy something in Dollars that was originally sold in Yen?

Was it my having one sitting next to my computer as I clicked the link?

Was it…

I ran out of irony at this point, shut down the web browser and recovered my temporary (permanent?) insanity, and got back to work.

Maybe not that funny, but I laughed. ;)

Hope your day is a good one,

Stu.

Hi, Nice blog, some interesting reading. I need some help in using a Japanese style saw for ripping hardwood. I have the double edged style made by Vaughn. I’m having trouble keeping the cut from wandering off my marked line. I am usually cutting smaller pieces (18″ to 24″ max) and secure them vertically in a vise. Should I try the traditional low bench Japanese craftsmen use? If you could point me to a web site, blog, book or just your advise, that would be great.

Thanks for all the work you put into the blog.

Proof that Amazon (and others) know nothing about who they pitch products to.

You’re not wrong Steve, not wrong at all…

But it was worth the laugh. ;)

    Tom,

How about I write up a new blog post in an attempt to help you out as much as I can.

I suspect that the saw you are using is not helping matters, but it might be free of fault too.
